    Wine villages from the Monferrato to the Langhe

      You arrive in the Monferrato vineyards and start underground, with a guided visit to the infernòt, cellars cut by hand into the stone. Afterwards, stroll to Palazzo Volta and its stone loggia, then on to Castagnole delle Lanze.

      In Castagnole delle Lanze, climb to the upper town and wander the Parco della Rimembranza, where ginkgo and cedars shade the paths. Try a glass of Barbera d'Asti with your lunch, then carry on to Neive.

      Climb Neive's ringed lanes to the old clock tower, the Torre dell'Orologio, and look out over the Langhe slopes. Stay the night here, and in the evening raise a glass of Barbaresco.

    Barolo country and a view across the Roero

      The day begins in Monforte d'Alba, a hilltop village in Barolo country. Stop at the Auditorium Horszowski, a natural amphitheatre where the Monfortinjazz festival plays each July. Then on to Barolo.

      In Barolo, head for Castello Falletti and its WiMu wine museum, then taste a glass of Barolo at the Enoteca Regionale in the cellars. Spare time for the colourful Chapel of Barolo, then on to Guarene.

      GuarenePiedmont

      You settle in at Guarene on a Roero hill. Walk the Paramuro, the path along the old walls, for a view over towards Alba and the Langhe. Stay the night here, and try a glass of Roero Arneis with dinner.

    A last hill town before Turin

      Your last stop is Cocconato, a hill town of the Monferrato. Look for the late Gothic town hall, then try the local Robiola di Cocconato cheese for lunch. From here it is on to Turin, where the trip ends.
