The second day begins at Carmona, in western Cantabria, a village protected as a whole. Walk among the stone casonas montañesas, look out for Tudanca cattle, and find the albarcas, wooden clogs carved by the village's craftsmen. Then on to Bárcena Mayor.

    2. ~30 min driving · 28 km
      Bárcena MayorCantabria

Leave the car at the edge: Bárcena Mayor is closed to traffic, so you walk among its stone houses and their wooden balconies. It is the one inhabited place in the Saja-Besaya natural park. Sit down to the region's cocido montañés for lunch, then head to Potes.
