For more than three centuries the Brandolini counts ruled the county of Valmareno from CastelBrando, the fortress that still looks down over the village and the whole valley. Below it, the square is framed by the 17th-century Loggia, once the court, and a parish church with two façades. Around them spread the Prosecco hills listed by UNESCO.
