Water shapes Polcenigo: the Livenza rises at the Santissima, so clear it is called a 'liquid sky', and the Gorgazzo flows through the valley below the castle. Neolithic stilt houses once stood in the Palù di Livenza, now part of the UNESCO-listed pile dwellings around the Alps, while the old Borc keeps its palazzi and an 18th-century castle designed by Matteo Lucchesi.
