Castelnaud stands above the point where the Céou joins the Dordogne, facing Beynac across the river, under a fortress that now houses a museum of medieval arms and warfare. Elsewhere in the commune stands the 16th-century Château des Milandes, once home to Joséphine Baker, and the GR 64 footpath passes both castles.
