La Roque-Gageac

A south-facing limestone cliff rises straight behind La Roque-Gageac, holding the day's warmth so well that bananas, figs and bamboo grow in its exotic garden. The village lines the right bank of the Dordogne in the Périgord Noir, its lanes climbing the rock towards a troglodyte fort. Down at the water, visitors swim, launch canoes or take a trip on a traditional gabare.
