Pieve Tesino
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Alcide De Gasperi, one of the founding fathers of the European Union, was born in 1881 in this village on the slopes of Monte Silana, and his birthplace is now a museum. Pieve Tesino's other story is a trade: its shepherds turned pedlars of cheap printed images, selling them across Europe and beyond, and some local families became print publishers in Amsterdam, Augsburg and Strasbourg.
