Monte Grimano
Monte Grimano Terme
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Monte Grimano is the only municipality in the Marche that borders San Marino, a Montefeltro village of narrow lanes and old houses partly circled by medieval walls with traces of its fortress. Lilac book boxes for swapping reads dot the streets, and the village has a spa using mineral waters that rise on the slopes of Monte San Paolo.
Highlights
- The 15th-century civic tower, 18 metres high, with book-swap shelves inside
- The Carlo Bollini panoramic walk along the old walls
- Spa waters: alkaline, salt-bromine-iodine and sulphurous springs
- A Madonna delle Grazie of 1607 in the parish church of Santa Maria
- The astronomical observatory a few kilometres outside the village
