Lambrusco Grasparossa is the wine of these hills between Modena and Bologna, and each September growers bring it to the main square for the Sagra dell'Uva. That square, Piazza Roma, hosts the Dama Vivente, a game of draughts with living pieces already staged when Torquato Tasso stayed in 1564. Six medieval towers rise over the village, among them a clock tower that leans.
