Atina
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Virgil named Atina among the towns that armed against Aeneas, and parts of its walls of fitted polygonal blocks still enclose more ground than the present town. The old centre holds a hill in the Valle di Comino, while newer Atina has spread across the Melfa valley below. Vineyards on the alluvial marls produce the Atina DOC reds, built largely on Cabernet.
