Marols
Member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
With no castle of its own, Marols grew around its church, and in the Hundred Years' War that church became the fortress. At 865 metres in the Forez mountains, Saint-Pierre still carries a massive square tower crowned with machicolations, one of the finest fortified churches in the area, while a postern, a watchtower and the east gate survive from the village walls.
