Flavigny-sur-Ozerain

A Benedictine abbey was founded on this rocky spur of the Auxois in 719, and the town grew up around it, ringed by three streams and by walls that still stand. Medieval pilgrims came for the relics of Saint Reine; today the abbey buildings produce the Anis de Flavigny, aniseed sweets first made by the monks. The film Chocolat was shot in its streets.
