Autoire
Member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
In the 17th and 18th centuries, notables from Saint-Céré built manors and country houses around Autoire, earning it the nickname 'Petit Versailles'. The village lies in a cirque at the foot of limestone cliffs, where a stream drops about 30 metres in a waterfall just above the houses. Within the cirque, the ruined Château des Anglais is reached by a stairway.
