Vilafamés
Member of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España
Narrow, winding lanes from Muslim times run below the castle of Vilafamés, which crowns a hill at the northern tip of the Serra de les Conteses. From the top the view sweeps across the Pla de l'Arc, a farmed plain ringed by mountains like an amphitheatre. In 1837 the village's defences held when Carlist troops tried to take it.
