Known as 'the village of the Corsicans', Raggiolo is a stone hamlet in the chestnut woods of the Casentino whose lanes can only be explored on foot. In the Middle Ages it was a fief of the Counts Guidi and the main seat of Guido Novello, Count of Raggiolo, who kept his principal castle here; today summer visitors stay in its albergo diffuso.

Highlights

  • The Museo della castagna, devoted to the chestnut
  • The church of San Michele
  • The Cappella del Sepolcreto, an early chapel
  • Walking the car-free stone lanes among chestnut woods
