Tournemire
Member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
Two families shaped Tournemire: the lords of Tournemire, whose castle stood on the promontory over the Doire valley, and the Anjony, wealthy fur merchants from Aurillac. The Anjony castle, built between the 15th and 17th centuries, is the village's great sight. Around it, on a height above the river, the oldest houses have Romanesque foundations, walls of volcanic stone and roofs of stone slabs.
