La Flotte
Member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
On the north coast of the Île de Ré, La Flotte grew around a harbour that once shipped wine and salt, then served fishermen, and now holds pleasure boats. Low cliffs line the shore, hollyhocks crowd the lanes, and a medieval market draws visitors. Oysters, salt and local beer are the things to taste.
